Those of you that are a part of our active Telegram community will know that we’ve been hinting at this for a while, and we know you’ve been on tenterhooks as we’ve been preparing to release this news. Happily, it’s now out in the open, and we can reveal that Charlie Shrem is joining the BlockMesh team as an advisor and equity partner.
For those of you that don’t know, Charlie Shrem is an American entrepreneur and Bitcoin advocate. In 2011 he co-founded the now-defunct startup company BitInstant and is a founding member of the Bitcoin Foundation, formerly serving as vice chairman. In December 2014 he was sentenced to two years in prison for aiding and abetting the operation of an unlicensed money-transmitting business related to the Silk Road marketplace. He was released from prison around June 2016 and in 2017 he joined Jaxx as its director of business and community development. Later that year, he founded cryptocurrency advisory CryptoIQ and now also hosts the weekly crypto-focused podcast, Untold Stories.
Our CTO and co-founder Bjorn, Managing Director Matthew and Charlie had a video call to discuss the partnership, what BlockMesh has accomplished thus far as well as next steps.
